After Gray implies he will blackmail him for his sexuality, Campbell is called upon to dispose of the body of Basil Hayward. When we next hear about him in the novel, we are told that he has committed suicide. But what actually happened? The Death of Alan Campbell: A Wilde Affair explores the intersection of queerness, Darwinism, and gender roles in Victorian society.
